Happy Holidays!

I know everyone’s experience is different, but I’ve come to view the holidays as a time for relaxation while preparing for the New Year. No matter which holiday you celebrate at this time of year, it’s likely you’ll have extra time to relax if you allow for it. I believe this spaciousness is essential and entirely appropriate for the winter season. I invite you to indulge in it with me without feeling guilty. Giving yourself a break makes it easier to be productive when you do return to work. This is a time of hibernation, going within, being warm, and dreaming of what’s next to come. Consider this your public service announcement to enjoy…

So I got the idea to make a list of my favorite things to do around the holidays last year after reading The Law of Attraction by Esther and Jerry Hicks. In the book, they recommend noticing and writing down all of the things you love to help you define what you want to bring into your life (and of course in the New Year as Spring comes in). So here are a few indulgent things I’ve come to associate with this holiday time of year.

Two of My Favorite Holiday Things…

1) Connecting with friends and family

Remember that wonderful feeling around the holidays when everyone who went away to college would return home? And of course, no one had anything to do but have fun every day during that time, because they were away from school and work, right? As we get older, there seem to be more and more distractions. I think it’s important to seek out our friends and family who are in town for the holidays and spend as much time with them as possible.

2) Staying out with friends and family just a little bit longer

So following from number 3 above, while connecting with old friends and family, I love to staying just a little bit longer than usual around the holidays. This could mean anything from staying just a little bit later than I normally would when having dinner and drinks with friends, to staying longer when visiting family without rushing off to go do something else. The idea here is to honor this special time and extend your pleasure threshold.

I hope you have an amazing holiday filled with family, friends and fun!

On that note, Happy Holidays from my little one Heloisa!
