Making Magic in 2014: A Ritual

It’s that time of the year–everyone is doing their end-of-the-year reviews and planning visions for 2014! I’ve sifted through so many exercises and suggestions for starting the year off right, and I’m starting to get a feel for what works best for me. I’d love to share with you what resonates…

Synchronicity: Embracing Traditional Healing

Me about to participate in a sweat lodge ceremony in Mexico, summer of 2001 I meant to share this earlier when it happened in May, but better late than never, right? I’ve  just recently decided that I want to share little moments like this with you more often: synchronicities, lucid dream experiences, manifestations, dreams that come true, etc. These are important, because they are all part of the journey towards living a fully authentic life in your purpose. So this past May, I decided that I was finally ready to commit to six weeks of acupuncture.  I was serious, so I decided I wanted to work with Dr. Burgoon–he’s an acupuncturist who also has a background as a medical doctor.  I met him as an undergraduate at West Chester University, where I took a course with him on Traditional Chinese Medicine  in the summer of 2001.

My Top 8 Favorite Juicy Reasons to Meditate

So in my last blog post I talked about The Top 4 Most Common Excuses to Avoid Meditating. Now I’d like to share what really motivates me to meditate, when it seems like there are so many other important things I have to do instead. There are many benefits to meditating, but I want to share with you my personal favorites:

What is the Difference Between a Coincidence and a Synchronicity Experience?

After sharing my last video How to Interpret Synchronicity Experiences, a viewer asked me: “How can you tell the difference between what’s just a coincidence and a synchronicity experience? That is a great question! I heard from several people that had never heard of synchronicity experiences before watching my video… It makes sense that if you’d like to start noticing synchronicity experiences in your life, you want to be able to notice what makes a coincidence special and meaningful. You want to start paying attention 😉 In this video, I explain the difference between a coincidence and a synchronicity and give an example of each.

How to Interpret Synchronicity Experiences

Have you ever had a synchronicity experience (you know, like a very bizarre coincidence) and wondered if it was a message trying to tell you something? Like maybe which path to take with your career or relationship? If you’ve been looking for a new perspective and how it can relate to making a decision, this video is for you! I believe these synchronicity experiences are significant and worth investigating, but it *can* be dangerous to interpret them the wrong way. In this video I share with you the *safest* place to start and what all synchronicity experiences have in common (it may not be what you think!)     Leave a comment below and share your synchronicity experience ( I really, really love to hear these!) Let me know if this perspective changes how you view your experience 🙂 By the way, the book I mention: Synchronicity: The Art of Coincidence, Choice, and Unlocking Your Mind by Dr. Kirby Surprise is here if you want to check it out.

Are You Addicted to Your Story?

When I was younger I used to feel like a victim a lot of the time. No matter how many things were going well in my life, I could tell a story I felt bad about. I didn't know at the time that I was indulging in a victim story. Even when my situation was comparatively easier than that of many people around me, I found a way to focus on the victim story and not take responsibility for my own choices. I think everyone has done this at some point without realizing it. It doesn't necessarily have to be something one does consistently. It can be a habit that creeps up, usually in times of stress and change. After all, periods of scary, risky change are the perfect time to dwell on old, familiar stories that relieve us of responsibility.

The Synchronicity Diaries: Entry #1

After writing How to Create Synchronicity, I feel inspired to create an ongoing dialogue about synchronicity as it plays out in my life, starting with this entry. I hope that I will inspire you to welcome and look for it in your life also. Such experiences make everything so much more rich and interesting and are a phenomenon not discussed often enough! I had the idea after reading The Seven Secrets of Synchronicity which featured one story about a guy who chronicles his synchronicity experiences on a blog that I really love called Teapots Happen. He went all the way back into childhood and made a post for each synchronicity he could remember experiencing. Well, that may be a project for the future, but I thought maybe I would just start with Now. After all, where is the beginning really? So many of the synchronicities I've experienced are linked to things that happened before, and I really could just keep going further and further back. Now seems as good a time to start as any. Of course, one single moment does lose a bit of its significance when not viewed in the whole picture. I've read stories of synchronicities where the ultimate punch line only comes years and years later.

11/11/11 = Transformation

I have had the most amazing week! My dear friend Celestine Chua was visiting from Singapore to speak at a Wharton (University of Pennsylvania) Marketing Conference scheduled for the auspicious day of 11/11/11. After several coaching sessions with Celes during a transformative period in my life, a blogging course, and a meditation challenge on her blog, it was great to finally meet her in person! She's been a HUGE part of getting my own web site, blog, and coaching practice started. It was a blast to have her stay with me and to show her the best of Philadelphia (only wish we had more time!) Celes runs a blog where she's currently doing a FREE journaling challenge. Everyone take a look! :) ==> http://www.personalexcellence.co/ <== But that wasn't all...

How Detailed Does Your Visualization Need to Be? Part I

When I first started experimenting with manifesting and visualizations, I wanted very specific things. This is normal--most of us come to this practice because we want specific things rather than general ones. In my case, I wanted a specific relationship I was in to deepen and be full of peace rather than full of drama and uncertainty. While you can never change another person's mind or behavior, it is definitely possible to affect others by changing yourself and engaging God/The Universe to shift the energy you're in and help out.
