Steven, the Renegade Magician came to me because he wanted to start doing magic shows again—this time bigger than ever and with a stronger on line presence.
He had been working on his new web site for months, and the screen shots he shared with me looked great. But he had a few key decisions to make and there was more he wanted to add…
Meanwhile, he was leaving money on the table, because he didn’t have a place to send people to learn more about his unique and mesmerizing magic shows…
Finally we had to set a launch date together—perfect web site or not.
It’s time for the world to welcome him back, and even witness his transformation as his web presence grows stronger and falls into alignment with his ideal vision.
I am so proud of Steven for taking the leap and launching his web site even if it isn’t quite perfect yet! The most important thing is to put yourself out there, and just get it done.
The fact is, it’s already amazing and all web sites are a work in progress anyway as we grow.
Check out his web site here and send him a shout out of support!
I love magic, so I’m very excited to share this with you! Here is an inspiring video of Steven, The Renegade Magician in action:
Do you have something you want to share with the world that you just know is amazing?
Maybe you’ve been working real hard, and you know a lot of people will love and even benefit tremendously from what you have to share…
Only problem is, it’s not quite ready yet.
Maybe it’s that book that needs just a few more rewrites…
A painting you’ve been working on for years isn’t quite done…
A technique you’re learning that you can share with a lot of people, but you’re still practicing it…
Maybe you’re working on a web site too, but you’re not ready to launch it or tell anyone about it yet.
You’re definitely not alone.
The fact is, most of us who do have something amazing to share are perfectionists.
And we get very caught up in believing that we can be just a little more perfect. We don’t want to be seen or have our craft seen until we know it’s the best that it can be.
The only problem with this line of thinking is that it can take forever to meet our own standards of what *we* consider perfect and presentable. And that is valuable time wasted for people who could already be enjoying and benefiting in *life-changing* ways from what we have to offer.
Now I’m not saying you should throw together crappy, half-done creations or services or that you shouldn’t strive to offer the best you possibly can.
But maybe you can embrace a new perspective about what can be shared and when, which I’ve had to do too.
What if it’s okay to share a masterful work in progress and continuing adding to the brilliance over time while everyone watches?
I know it takes a lot of courage, but I challenge you to think of something that you can already share—even if it’s not quite perfect yet.
Giving yourself the freedom to be imperfect is far more magical…

Leave a comment below and share something that you’ve been hesitant about sharing with the world, because it’s not quite ready yet.
How can you start?
I struggle with perfectionism – all the time, but especially around the holidays. I just featured a post today along the same lines of giving yourself a break and focusing on what’s truly important. I’m working on it – work in progress…
Hi Kimba,
Yes I saw your post and loved it! I can be a bit perfectionistic about cooking myself (wanting to measure everything out perfectly, time everything right, etc.), so I did love your ideas about semi-homeade projects. Just starting anywhere is a great place to start!

I am such a perfectionist. I am in recovery. I have dialed it (my perfectionist needs) WAY back but even so, I work hard to have things work out right Its just what feels better for me. I have things to share with the world that I am sort of sitting on. I learning to release a lot of things but I still have a ways to go 🙂
Hi Kate,
I completely understand that–in a way, it’s a good thing, because it demonstrates your commitment to excellence.
It helps when I think of all the people that are waiting and could benefit from an offering, even if it’s less than perfect (and also remembering that everything continues to improve with time–the offering can be shared while it’s in the process of improvement!).
I love your blog and look forward to seeing you share more!
